Sberbank on Top of Russian Bank Awareness and Popularity Ratings

April 25, 2011, Moscow – Sberbank ranges first in the Russian bank
awareness and popularity ratings published by the National Agency for
Financial Studies (NAFI). According to the data provided by the agency, the
awareness of Sberbank in Russia is 96% and its popularity is 86%.

Awareness is interpreted within the NAFI research as prompted knowledge
when a consumer recognizes a brand seeing it or hearing about it. And
popularity is construed as spontaneous knowledge about a bank–s brand when
a consumer recalls and names the brand independently (without being
prompted).

–The awareness about Sberbank has been sustainably high over the last two
years and the level of spontaneous knowledge about the brand stabilized in
2011 having steadily grown over the last two years–, NAFI reports.

The National Agency for Financial Studies is a research company
specializing in behavior, strategies and motivation studies of financial
service consumers in Russia.

According to the research conducted by the Center for Strategic Research
(CSR), Sberbank enjoys the highest confidence rating (54%) among the
Russian public institutions along with the Russian Orthodox Church. Basing
on the data provided by the Romir research holding, the visibility index of
Sberbank (a population share aware of the brand) equals to 89.5 points and
its confidence index equals to 82.8 points. Sberbank clearly outruns its
competitors in the bank service sphere in terms of both indicators.

In accordance with the Top-500 Most Expensive World Brands research
conducted by Brand Finance consulting company, Sberbank is the most
expensive brand in Russia, its value exceeding 12 billion. Sberbank is the
Russian company included in the top 100 of the world rating (ranging 65th).
According to Brand Finance data, the Sberbank brand rates 19th in terms of
its value among bank brands worldwide.
