
Dr. Thomas Sedran (48) has been appointed President and Managing Director of Chevrolet and Cadillac Europe, effective July 1, 2013.
Sedran has served as a member of the Opel/Vauxhall Management Board in charge of Operations, Business Development and Corporate Strategy since April 1, 2012.
„With more than 20 years of experience in the automotive business, Thomas will be key in driving the business and the long-term strategy for Chevrolet and Cadillac–s success in Europe,“ said Tim Lee, GM Vice President, Global Manufacturing, and President, International Operations. „We thank him for his outstanding work at Opel/Vauxhall and for taking the lead at Chevrolet and Cadillac in Europe.“
Sedran said: „I–m looking forward to overseeing GM–s two iconic global brands, Chevrolet and Cadillac, here in Europe. Chevrolet has introduced 15 new or upgraded models in the past three years. With the recent introduction of the Trax and the upcoming Corvette Stingray, Chevrolet has one of the freshest portfolios in the industry. Cadillac is entering new segments, with the ATS giving us the opportunity to win new customers for the brand.“
Sedran will succeed Susan Docherty, who has elected to leave General Motors after 27 years with the company to spend time with her family.
About Dr. Thomas Sedran:
Dr. Thomas Sedran was named a member of the Management Board of Adam Opel AG, effective April 1, 2012. He was in charge of Operations, Business Development and Corporate Strategy. Sedran is responsible for developing and implementing business strategies for the long-term growth of the company in Europe and beyond.
Prior to joining Opel, Sedran was in charge of automotive business affairs for global management consultants AlixPartners, based in Munich, Germany, for six years. In this position, he worked very closely with Opel/Vauxhall.
Born on October 13, 1964, in Augsburg, Germany, Sedran spent most of his career as a management consultant. He earlier worked for Roland Berger Strategy Consultants, where he last was in charge of the Competence Automotive Center on a global level.
He has a master–s degree in business administration from the University of Hohenheim in Germany and a Ph.D. from Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, Germany.
