4. Juli, 13 Uhr:Öffentlicher Vortrag „The New Zealand –Model / Experiment–“

Am Mittwoch, dem 4. Juli 2012, wird Prof. Dr. Charles Crothers von der Auckland University of Technology von 13 bis 14 Uhr einen öffentlichen englischsprachigen Gastvortrag über das Thema „The New Zealand –Model / Experiment–“ halten. Prof. Charles Crothers ist einer der bekanntesten Soziologen Neuseelands und der Leiter des Department of Social Sciences der Auckland University of Technology in Neuseeland. Veranstaltungsort ist die Hochschule Bremen, Neustadtswall 30, 28199 Bremen, SI-Gebäude, Raum SI 364.
Der Vortrag berührt folgende Inhalte: Paradoxically over the last decades New Zealand has been both a pioneer and a laggard, although the former is more emphasised. As a small, young, distantly-located society, New Zealand can be subjected to considerable overseas pressures but also is open to opportunities. During the 1890s, 1940s and again in the 1980s and 2000s New Zealand has been –experimental–, although more of a –fast adapter; than an outright leader.
The seminar will enunciate and describe the array of changes which have been implemented in New Zealand in different eras and assess the extent to which these innovations have worked, and what their implications are for the rest of the world.
